The Glasses Are Coming Off 5

Later, then
Put off the snowman
The agents clutching rolled-up newspapers
Especially the phone cords leading to an ivory tower

Of course the old man
Twirls them about his fingers
Rubbing them against beady eyes
Pondering betrayal
Sensing more ties being severed

It was all his fault
The man in the fine white palace
Ignoring the land
where an agent’s shadow
Still looms

Shame was forbidden among titans
But there it was
Glittering like sun-drenched snow

Dan, Dan, Dan…. Your creativity strikes me that you must be such an intelligent soul, yet I find myself somewhat troubled here. Have you accepted the Kool-aid? Do you actually buy into the whole Russian narrative? Don’t misunderstand me; I’m no Trump apologist, but one has to be a fool to accept the narrative that is being foisted upon us. Say it ain’t so! 🙂

Well, political narratives get spun whether we like it or not, so I might as well have fun with them from a language perspective.

Though, I’m still adamantly anti-trump, which will probably scare off some readers.

Doesn’t bother me. I don’t have to agree with you to like what you write. I’m curious. Are you familiar at all with Mark E. Smith of The Fall? Some of your poetry puts me in mind of some of his amphetamine fueled rants ( not that its a bad thing!) If you are not familiar I would point you to the LP Perverted by Language. Two tracks in particular: Tempo House and Garden. Even if the musical style doesn’t appeal as a poet its hard not to like Smith. I think you would like it.

I liked his sort of dry style, but to be honest the vocals weren’t really up my alley. Don’t hesitate to send me more music recommendations, though! I do most of my creative writing with headphones on.

True indeed. Mark E. Smith: the worlds most famous vocalist who doesnt sing. Its more of a voice as instrument. Still he’s a clever bastard. Some more contemporary alternative artists I can recommend are Neutral Milk Hotel, Silversun Pickups, Manchester Orchestra, Broken Social Scene, Surfer Blood…If I think of others I’ll mention later
