Swept Neatly Away

Well for many its true
That their legacies are portable
Made to be transferred to the abyss
But looking past the glow
Of a salesmen’s pitch
Shows good, pliable cracks

Then obscurity comes knocking
Washing away hope
But constructing a path anyway
For words to tumble down
Time’s staircase

Infinitely they tumble down
Casually
Resurrecting a lush delta
And a finely crafted room
With furnishings caused by other images

A smile, a word
A grey beard standing the test of time
Time in all its mischief
Couldn’t conquer that
