A Narcissist’s Trinket

Too late for sorrow
It was malice that provided sustenance

If only Plan A had worked out
That would’ve meant the universe was on his side
But there would be other plans more efficient
More palatable to the grand scheme of things
Something akin to diving grace would strike at any moment

The road offered some peace of mind
Waiting as it did to existence in his mind’s eye
Only some miles to go before mild redemption
Maybe they rolled out like a beautiful quilt
To test a demigod’s patience
And make him stronger
